Assisting Early Childhood Education Teachers in Organizing Play Environments to Stimulate Computational Thinking Skills in Early Childhood

The arrangement of learning environments plays an important role in stimulating young children's computational thinking skills. This community service program aimed to enhance teachers’ competencies in arranging learning environments to stimulate computational thinking skills in early childhood education settings. The program was conducted from April to June 2026 and involved 61 early childhood teachers affiliated with IGTKI and HIMPAUDI in Tangerang District. The results showed that teachers improved their ability to design learning environments that provide opportunities for children to explore, recognize patterns, classify objects, sequence actions, and solve problems through meaningful play experiences. Teachers also demonstrated a better understanding of computational thinking concepts and a shift in pedagogical practices from teacher-centered to child-centered approaches. These findings indicate that workshops and mentoring are effective strategies for strengthening teachers’ capacity to arrange learning environments that support the development of computational thinking skills in early childhood education
